Royalty
The illustration above depicts the coronation at
Rheims on August 6, 1223,
of King Louis VIII ("the Lion") of France and his wife Queen Blanche
("of Castille").
It is taken from the 14th Century manuscript Grandes Chroniques de France.
The original is now in the Bibliothèque Nationale in
Paris.
_________
"Il ne faut pas être plus
royaliste que le roi"
("One must not be more royalist than the king")
is a maxim dating from the reign of King Louis XIV of France.
Given the character and behavior of our Century's republican
officials,
I think royalty is looking better every day.
